Sojourner Farm 2019 Newsletter
February 2019
Greetings from Quartzite Arizona (no we haven’t moved the farm).
We hope the New Year found you in good health and spirits and we wish you and yours a prosperous 2019.
As many of you know 2018 was a year of significant changes for us. Pierre retired fully from the practice of medicine in late June and one of our “bucket list” items was to spend a few winters in warmer climes. So we bought a slightly used 5th wheel RV which Pierre then outfitted with solar panels to give us the option of doing extended off-grid camping in the southwestern U.S..
Since our previous farm plan did not allow us to take extended time off, we did institute a few changes on the farm late last fall. We transitioned our laying flock to Andy & Stephanie Beneng @ Light Work Farm in Allegany and thus we will no longer be selling Sojourner Farm eggs. But you can continue getting eggs from them (716-372-4013).
We also started transitioning our beef herd to our neighbors Ryan and Ashley Hatch @ H&H Meadows. They have agreed to continue our current practice of raising and finishing our beef solely on pasture and hay (no grain) so we can continue providing you with healthy 100% pastured beef.
We’ll also continue to raise and sell pastured pork, chickens and turkeys but will not be filling our freezer with surplus for sale through the winter since we plan on being off the farm again next winter.
So please get your orders in to us ASAP so we know how many chicks, piglets and turkey poults to order.
We continue to be strong believers in food production transparency so feel free to contact us to arrange for farm tours during the summer.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you next summer.
Pierre & Lesa
